Multiple accidents reported as snow falls in Central Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS — Multiple accidents are being reported Sunday as the snow starts to fall in Central Indiana.

Several accidents have also been reported on the interstates near Indianapolis.

Since 10 a.m. Sunday, Indiana State Police Troopers have responded to almost 60 crashes.

An accident involving multiple cars and a fire engine left three people and a firefighter injured in Wayne Township. Police are looking for one driver who allegedly fled the scene.

At least 80 Indianapolis Department of Public Works plow drivers began to treat city roads at 11 a.m on Sunday.

Crews will continue to treat the roads into Monday morning's commute, Indianapolis DPW said in press release.

The southbound lanes of Interstate-65 near the 146 mile-marker were closed due to several accidents, the Boone County Sheriff's Office said.
