Remnants of Laura could influence weather in Indiana

Hurricane Laura brings destructive winds and storm surge to the Gulf Coast tonight. One bit of good news is that it's a pretty quick moving system. The remnants of Laura will arrive in the Ohio Valley late in the day Friday. As the moisture streams our way, it will interact with cold front sliding in from the north. This front will keep the bigger impacts to our south, but we're still expecting some rain and storms.

Truecast shows rain chances increasing for us through the day Friday. There's also a Marginal to Slight Risk some of the storms that develop could also be severe with gusty winds.

While Kentucky could see some heavy rainfall, widespread flooding isn't expected across Central Indiana. Most models are coming in between one half to one inch of rainfall for us through early Saturday. Some spots could see locally higher amounts with storms though.

Overall, we will be spared many of the direct impacts from this system. Outside of thunderstorms, wind should not be a big issue for us either. Gusts are likely to stay 20 mph or less.
