The muggy meter: What it really means

INDIANAPOLIS — It’s definitely been an air you can wear kind of week. Thanks to the remnants of Laura passing to our south, the humidity remains high.

When it comes to the humidity, it’s all relative. Typically our relative humidity is highest in the morning and at night. That’s when the dewpoint is usually closest to the air temperatures.

As the spread between those numbers increases during the day, the relative humidity drops.

That’s why on the muggy meter we show you the dew point numbers. This week the dew point has been at tropical levels.

It won’t feel like Florida in Indiana much longer though. The muggy meter begins to fall by Saturday afternoon with a refreshing feel for the rest of the weekend.
